1. WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MOTIVATIONAL QUOTE?
”Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving” Albert Einstein
2. WHAT DID YOU FIND HARD ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE?
The hardest part was starting weights training when I had no prior experience. It was very intimidating taking that first step and learning the correct way to lift weights.
3. HOW DID YOU OVERCOME IT?
The team at Mana were so supportive and very patient with me as I learnt the basics. Their support encouraged me to keep trying and push myself to extend my abilities.
4. WHAT DID YOU ENJOY THE MOST ABOUT BEING AT MANA?
Mana is like a family. It’s great catching up with everyone when going for a workout and it lifts my spirits after a hard day at work. Even when I feel flat, the energy in the gym lifts me up.
5. WHAT WAS THE NUMBER ONE HABIT THAT YOU DIDN’T FEEL COMFORTABLE TO LET GO OF?
Before starting at Mana I definitely ate a bit too much bread and other high-energy carbohydrates. I love bread and it was difficult changing my eating habits to supplement the amount of exercise I was doing.
6. IS IT STILL HOLDING YOU BACK OR HAVE YOU CONQUERED IT? HOW?
I’ve learnt you can still enjoy the food you love! You just need to ensure you eat the right foods at the right time of your training schedule. You can also enjoy a treat on occasion.
7. DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR SOMEONE WHO MIGHT BE IN THE SAME POSITION AS YOU WERE, BEFORE STARTING THIS JOURNEY?
Just take the plunge and start training! You’re not going to improve your abilities staying on the couch. The most difficult part of my training was taking that first step to improve my skills. You’re only going to improve and you might surprise yourself with what you can do.
8. ARE THERE ANY LESSONS THAT YOU LEARNED?
Your attitude will determine your success. If you have a great attitude and are determined to improve your abilities, your attitude will triumph over skills alone.
9. TELL US A FUN FACT THAT NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT YOU?
I represented Victoria playing softball from ages 11 to 17. I used to be a pitcher and I even went to America as part of an Australian team touring the colleges in San Fransisco.
