Consistency is key and enjoy the journey and what you're doing..
Meet our latest Australian Representative out of our Mana Fitness facility and all round incredible ambassador for Mana: Louis Treacy.
I had the great opportunity to coach Louis in the U9s at Harlequins and even from that point in time we knew he was going to be special.
Read below about his journey with the demands of high level sport physically and mentally, at a young age Louis is learning fast.
WHAT DID YOU FIND CHALLENGING ABOUT YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH S&C AT MANA FITNESS?
I had just come out of Covid and hadn't played rugby for 2 years and only done light gym work at home. The main challenge was just getting back to where I wanted to be because I felt like I was starting 2 years behind.
HOW DID YOU OVERCOME IT?
I joined Mana with my 2 brothers and that really helped with motivation. We were always pushing each other to our max. and had a lot of laughs along the way.
WHAT DID YOU ENJOY THE MOST ABOUT BEING AT MANA?
I enjoyed the fact that Jose and Ana had a vision for me and all I had to do was trust the plan. Especially coming off Covid, it was helpful to know I had their experience watching over my progress
WHAT WAS THE NUMBER ONE HABIT THAT YOU DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE TO LET GO OF?
It was more a bad habit that I didn't value stretching or doing a warm up at that stage.
IS IT STILL HOLDING YOU BACK OR HAVE YOU CONQUERED IT? HOW?
I think I've partly conquered it. I definitely value warming up more but still struggle with consistently stretching. When I do stretch more consistently I do notice a benefit but I still find it hard making time for it in my day.
DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR SOMEONE WHO MIGHT BE IN THE SAME POSITION AS YOU WERE, BEFORE STARTING THIS JOURNEY?
It's key when joining a programme to have a big goal but also small goals along the way. Don't be so caught up in the big goal that you don't celebrate the small steps. I found this a key to not burning out. One of the reasons I really enjoyed Mana fit was that they broke down my goals into smaller steps and made them feel more achievable.
ARE THERE ANY LESSONS YOU LEARNED?
Consistency is key and enjoy the journey and what you're doing.
TELL US A FUN FACT THAT NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT YOU?
Not so much a fun fact but one thing most people don't know is that all my favourite rugby playing experiences have been playing with my older brother, Xavier.
Keep and eye on this future champion.
