Inspiration is for amateurs, the rest of us just show up” Which tells me that if you want to be good, you have to show up and do the work regardless of how you feel.
I have a tremendous ability to hit the green, first stroke on the majority of par 3 golf courses, yet it still takes me 6 shots to finish the hole.
What's one thing that would surprise us to find out about you?
I live 1km from the 1000 steps and when I first moved house it took me two years to do them!
Have you always been sporty?
I have always loved sport growing up in an active family, I started playing rugby when I was 5 but complimented it with cricket, AFL, Touch Rugby and volleyball among other sports.
Who or what motivates you?
Doing something that is not often done or unique is something which I love, it excites me a lot. It motivates me to be the best I can be and do what needs to be done! What also motivates me is the concept of being different to everyone else, in a world where so many people share similar personalities, traits, characteristics etc, I want to have a point of difference. It scares me, the concept of being just another bloke, and motivates me to make sure that doesn’t happen.
What is your favourite exercise or workout?
You cannot go past a really heavy lower body session filled with deadlifts, squats and cleans. Does it get any better?
What sort of music do you like to workout to and why?
I don’t have a specific workout playlist and the music I listen to has an incredible variety! So depending on how I feel will control what I listen to. A favourite of mine has to be House or RnB, but just whatever is playing currently is guaranteed to be somewhere in there. Something I can sing along to is certainly something I enjoy. Weird, but I can always rely on that for a good workout.
What do you love about your chosen sport?
There is no other game in the world where you deliberately put yourself in harms way for another person (more often than not a brother). Make the biggest hits possible, share a few kind words at the bottom of a ruck and then shake hands afterwards to say thank you for such competition! The culture surrounding the game is amazing, unheard of when comparing it to other sports.
What do you enjoy about training at Mana?
The atmosphere created by the team at Mana is second to none. A family that encourages you to push yourself to exceed your own limitations whilst still enjoying time with a group of awesome people! Training how training should be! If simply being surrounded by genuine people isn’t enough, the results many have had, including myself speak volumes.
